Healthy Trey Thompkins Lifts Georgia Past Auburn, 69-51

Mar 11, 2011 1:06 AM

Preseason SEC player of the year Trey Thompkins scored a game-high 22 points as Georgia cruised past Auburn 69-51 in the first round of the SEC tournament on Thursday.

Thompkins said this was the first time he’s been 100 percent all year.

“I feel like I’m more fluid on the court, rebounding and running,” Thompkins said. “I feel like I’m myself again.”

Georgia head coach Mark Fox said it was the best Thompkins had looked all season.

“His legs are back, his feet are underneath him,” Fox said. “I don’t know how much wear and tear he got (Thursday), but (Thursday) he looked as good as he had all year.”

Thompkins was named first-team All-SEC by the league’s coaches on Tuesday.
